No air conditioning (gets very hot in summer); pricing not fully transparent for parties; some areas best for 3.5+

A huge, fun free skatepark with a wide range of features for kids, teenagers and adults, water fountains, bathrooms and shade trees, welcoming to everyone; ~2km south

A big, clean and safe trampoline and movement park for kids and adults with a valued warm-up, strict behaviour rules and an athletics/physical-education focus (not a soft-play), and free entry for a parent accompanying an under-7; ~9km north (Rümlang)

It's an athletics park, not soft play — supervise closely (an injury was reported); few adult seats; front-desk service can vary; afternoon-only some weekdays

A great indoor freestyle/skate hall with super-nice, helpful staff, a nice atmosphere and good facilities plus classes, popular with freestyle riders and young learners; ~5km west

Basically the main rope-climbing centre for Zürich, with lead, top-rope, auto-belay and bouldering plus kiddy climbs and outdoor walls, extensive facilities (changing rooms, showers, lockers, spray wall), a small café with good coffee, and lots of space, great for kids (a 5 and 8-year-old pushed their limits happily); ~8km west (Schlieren)

Expensive and gets very crowded in the evenings; not open in the mornings; staff can be impatient

A very cool, well-organised bouldering gym with many different walls and levels clearly indicated, a Tension board, communal block chalk (so no dust) and liquid chalk allowed, and a cozy stylish café right next door, great for a pre- or post-climb chill; ~3km southwest

One of the best bouldering gyms in the city with amazing hold quality and great route-setting (even the easier problems are interesting movement-wise), a complete weights gym and warm-up area, a coffee bar, very clean toilets and changing rooms and chill helpful staff; ~2km west

No air conditioning (brutal in heat); small, so avoid rush hours; TB2/Kilter boards sit high above the mats
