    A big soft-play with various well-built themed areas for different age groups (the volcano climb is a hit), a large café with lots of sofa seating and good food, and party rooms; ~4km northeast

    Run-down of late (roof leaks, some broken/hazardous equipment, dirty toilets) and reception can be unwelcoming — check current state; pricey; open Fri-Sun

    An absolutely spotless, gorgeous one-room soft play for babies and toddlers with age-appropriate crawler and pre-crawler sessions, a safe clean space that's easy to manage even with twins, and a lovely facilitator; ~4km southwest

    Best for babies/toddlers; sessions booked in age groups; open Fri-Sun only

    A nice, open-all-hours skatepark that's one of the best in town, with ramps for beginners up to a half-pipe, adjacent to a nice park and playground, good for kids learning; ~6km east

    Could use a bench or two for parents; some reports of harassment later in the evening — better in daytime

  2. Irish Aerial Creation CentreAcrobatics / aerial

    A fantastic aerial-circus venue with amazing experienced instructors and fun for all ages, lots of floor space, moveable rigging and plentiful safety equipment, one of the best weekly activities for kids (building confidence with end-of-year shows) and a great summer camp; ~4km northeast

    Can be a bit chilly in winter; closed Sundays

  3. Jumplanes Indoor Trampoline CentreTrampoline park

    An indoor trampoline centre (~€10/hour per child) with sessions on the hour, safe enough for kids ~5+, where you can bring your own food or buy on site; ~3km southeast

    Cleanliness (toilets, seating) and staff attention get poor reviews — manage expectations; hard to book by phone; open Fri-Sun

  4. Limerick City SkateparkSkate / BMX / roller

    A great small-but-varied central skatepark with different ramps and a lovely view over the city and river, good for skateboarding and for training kids on different slopes; ~1km southwest

    Small (missing a flyout); a couple of unofficial skateparks (Mount Kenneth) sit right beside it

  5. Nevsail Climbing WallClimbing

    A great indoor climbing wall (and archery) with lovely, easygoing, reassuring instructors who make you feel safe even with a fear of heights, good with scout and kids' groups, a fun thing to do in the city; ~1km southwest

    One of the best climbing centres in the country with a lovely friendly atmosphere, lovely encouraging instructors, fun intuitive routes for a range of levels, clean facilities, good coffee and treats and equipment for sale, brilliant for kids' birthday parties; ~4km northeast

    Afternoon-focused weekday opening; book instructed/kids sessions

  7. UL Sport Climbing WallClimbing

    A great climbing wall for all abilities (and kids), with walls of varied height (up to ~30m, the highest climbing wall in Ireland) and difficulty plus a bouldering area, absolutely helpful staff, everything rentable including a chalk bag, and some heating in winter; ~6km east

    Boulder area can feel cramped when busy; can be chilly in deep winter

    A wonderful, warm and calming pottery studio where Claire is a lovely, patient, encouraging teacher — everything is laid out for you (tools, materials, prepped clay) and she guides you through wheel work and hand-building while letting you get creative, a relaxing experience good for teenagers and families, near lovely Lough Gur; ~18km south

    A spectacular, peaceful visitor farm in stunning surroundings with gorgeous, well-looked-after, happy animals (ring-tailed lemurs a favourite), immaculately maintained, a lovely spot for kids' parties, friendly chatty owner and plenty of parking; ~20km west

  2. Wild Encounters Mini ZooPetting farm

    A lovely mini-zoo with animals not usually seen in Ireland (meerkats, a terrarium of lizards, parrots) plus a small-animal petting area kids love, fun attractions (Freddie races), a cozy café with a kids' play zone and an outdoor playground, friendly knowledgeable staff; ~40km southwest

    A long drive from the city; open Sat-Sun only; footpaths can get muddy
