    Owner-run bistro in Auwiesen with a clean, well-thought-out play corner, good coffee and homemade cakes. Air conditioned, shoes off in the play room.

    Very limited hours: mornings Tuesday to Wednesday plus a Wednesday afternoon. Check before going.

    Small, calm city-centre play space aimed at toddlers, with stations a child can use unaided. Much quieter than the big indoor playgrounds. Open daily.

    Expensive for the size, and non-walking babies have been charged full price; ask about the crawler rate at the desk. Split midday closing.

  2. LolliPark PaschingIndoor playground

    The big indoor playground for the Linz area, ~10km south-west at PlusCity. Large, clean, with a separate under-3 zone, small toilets and changing tables. Own snacks allowed.

    Closed Mondays. Loud and overcrowded at weekends with no visible capacity limit. Some rides need 1 EUR tokens. Food is poor; bring your own.

  3. Miniland SpielraumPlay cafe

    Themed play rooms with dress-up outfits, ball pits and high-quality toys, run mainly as a private children's party venue. Easy online booking and a genuinely well-kept space.

    Party-rental rather than drop-in; book the room rather than turning up.

  4. Ocean Park PlusCityBowling

    Bowling, billiards and an arcade in the PlusCity complex, useful as a rainy-day stop for older kids alongside the indoor playground next door.

    Staff have pushed a per-person drinks minimum on bowling lanes; ask upfront. Several arcade machines are dated or out of order. Opens mid-afternoon on weekdays.

    Indoor family pool built around small children: baby play area, buggy parking, many changing stations and a family changing room. Affordable.

    The children's pool is crowded between about 10am and 3pm.

  2. Fitnessoase ParkbadPool

    Riverside outdoor pool complex with two large pools, a children's pool with a slide, a baby pool and a trampoline. Walkable from the centre.

    Outdoor pools are summer season. Busy on public holidays.

    Modern climbing centre with indoor and outdoor walls and a dedicated children's room. Good instructors for first lessons.

    Bouldering section is small and reset less often. Changing room is tight and prices are on the high side.

  2. Climbing Hall Linz AuwiesenClimbing

    Huge roped-climbing and bouldering hall with a play area for younger siblings, friendly staff and routes across the whole range.

    Rope climbing needs a belay partner or an auto-belay; check availability.

  3. JUMP DOME LinzTrampoline park

    Large trampoline park ~6km west with a toddler playground at the entrance, a pizza restaurant and well-run birthday packages. Open from 10am daily.

    Everyone needs the branded NFC wristband and grip socks, both extra on top of entry.

  4. Linz Indoor Skatepark LissfeldSkate / BMX / roller

    Cheap wooden indoor park that keeps kids skating through winter, with clean toilets and separate scooter and skateboard sessions.

    Cash only, around 2 EUR. Closed Sundays. Ramps are worn, and scooter riders often stay past their session slot.

  5. Skaterpark UrfahrSkate / BMX / roller

    Free outdoor concrete park on the Urfahr side of the Danube, good for learning and with a nice view.

    Very busy with children at weekends. Bring pads and a helmet.

  6. der steinbock Linz - BoulderhalleClimbing

    Central bouldering hall that rotates one wall every week, with a beginner challenge circuit and a big hangout area. Five-entry taster block for the price of three.

    Bring or buy chalk. Busy in the evenings.

  1. Ars Electronica CenterScience centre

    Hands-on technology and art centre on the Danube, strongest for school-age kids: robotics, AI stations, biology labs and the Deep Space projection room.

    Closed Mondays. Loud when school groups are in, usually weekday mornings. Deep Space shows run to a timetable.

  2. Musikschule der Stadt LinzMusic

    The municipal music school, with a wide instrument range and early-years courses. Strong teaching and an inspiring old building.

    Waiting list for places; apply early. Parking around it is scarce and paid.

  3. sunni KreativstudioPaint-your-own ceramics

    Bright ceramic-painting studio with a big choice of blanks and glazes and a genuinely relaxed atmosphere. Good matcha for the adults.

    Open Thursday to Saturday only. Book ahead.

  1. Streichelzoo Diakonie LinzerbergPetting farm

    Petting zoo run by the Diakonie on a hill ~15km north-east, tidy and well cared for, with a great view and room for children to play. Open daily.

    Steep walk up from the village.

  2. Zoo LinzZoo

    Small hillside zoo on the Pöstlingberg, walkable in about 90 minutes with a good playground and a snack buffet. Animals are visible rather than hiding.

    Ask for the 2 EUR animal feed at the entrance if you want to hand-feed the donkeys and goats. Car park fills on Sundays.
