    One of the best child-friendly places in Finland — a huge, mostly free adventure play park in Kupittaa with attractions for small and older kids, a little stream to play in, arts and crafts (Timantti workshop), an indoor spot to eat your own food and warm baby food, free toilets, and frequent summer concerts and shows, easily a whole day; near the train station

    Some activities have a small fee; not always tidily organised; watch small kids for trip hazards

    A lovely miniature Turku with traffic lights where kids get their first driving experience in pedal cars (and bigger 'safari' cars), a fun way to learn about traffic, best for ~age 2+, part of the Kupittaa park with the bird pond and Seikkis nearby

    The bike/car rental isn't always open (bring your own to be safe); ~2km east

    An amazing, gritty, old-school bouldering gym with challenging, creative routes even at lower grades (plus some monster endurance routes), friendly welcoming staff, a chill atmosphere and a shop with a good selection, good for all levels; ~2km east

    Spray wall sits in the middle of everything; closed Mondays; afternoon-focused weekday hours

  2. Kupittaan SkeittiparkkiSkate / BMX / roller

    A good, popular outdoor skatepark in Kupittaa, open all hours, worth a visit for skate and scooter; ~2km east

    The asphalt is uneven and the concrete banks/quarter-pipes aren't perfectly aligned; can get crowded

  3. Skeittihalli CubeSkate / BMX / roller

    A good, diverse indoor skatepark with cheap admission (~2€), mostly mid-to-big ramps, one of the best skate halls around, open September to June; ~2km west

    Cash only; closed in summer; mostly bigger ramps (less suited to complete beginners); separate days for different sports — check turku.fi; closed Tue and weekends

  4. Trampolin Park TurkuTrampoline park

    An awesome trampoline park (jumping, climbing and adventure) that's great fun with family and friends of all ages, with a party room you can decorate and bring your own food to, plus a gym; ~3km north

    A bit pricey; afternoon-only on weekdays

  5. Turun KiipeilypalatsiClimbing

    A fun climbing venue suitable for all levels, with very detailed beginner instructions, difficulty levels for beginners to experienced climbers and a small bouldering station with soft mats, multiple payment options and great customer service; ~1km east

    The bouldering area is small; can get crowded; open Tue-Thu afternoons/evenings only

  6. Turun SirkusAcrobatics / aerial

    A wonderful central circus school mainly for children (and curious parents), with an empowering, fun educational approach, nice instructors and good facilities, and great kids' birthday parties (bring your own food and decorations, they do the rest)

    A nice, large and bright clay workshop with courses to discover working with clay, nice competent teachers and a homely feel, the perfect place to explore ceramics with your child; ~5km southeast (Kaarina)

    A central music school where Tiina teaches piano in many styles with warmly satisfied long-term families, plus yearly concerts where children and young people perform for parents and relatives

  1. Kupittaa Bird PondPetting farm

    A nice little city animal spot, especially for the youngest, with chickens, turkeys, ducks and sheep in their own area, decorated with lights from late October to mid-February, part of Kupittaanpuisto right by the traffic park and Seikkis; ~2km east

    Small; the pond could be kept cleaner; watch for netting

  2. Kyyhkyrinne Domestic Animal FarmPetting farm

    A really nice, spacious domestic-animal farm to visit with a child — friendly, healthy animals (horses, chickens, cats, dogs, sheep) to pet and feed in a nice setting, children's yard activities (frisbee golf, stick-ball) and a kiosk, well worth a visit; ~15km east (Lieto)

    ~7-8€/person (feels steep to some); café coffee is basic; weekends only
