    Pricey for accompanying adults; food is just ok and pricey; gets crowded from ~3pm on Saturdays; closed Sundays

    Big, clean and well-organised indoor playground with something for every age (games good up to ~10, plus Xbox, bowling and table tennis), a good choice of kids' food at reasonable prices, friendly staff and relaxing drinks for grown-ups; ~7km north by the airport

    The floor can be cold/slippery — bring thick socks/slippers; no outside food or drink; ~3€/day parking; closed Mon-Wed

    Large bouldering gym with a big variety of difficulty levels and an amazing number of routes (a whole traverse corridor) plus a small top-rope section and a dedicated climbing tunnel for kids or warming up, a nice shaded outdoor area in summer, good prices and friendly staff; ~2km southwest (Plauen)

    Kids can use the kids' room and the adult area when it's not crowded; sauna not always working; afternoon-only on Mondays

    Warmly reviewed children's and youth circus (run by the Kindervereinigung Dresden) with a lovely way with kids, great circus weeks and interactive workshops; ~4km east (Striesen)

  3. Mandala BoulderhalleClimbing

    A complete, well-loved bouldering gym with thoughtfully set routes across many wall types (including huge overhangs) that often feel like outdoor climbing, a separate hall for kids, a nice training area (Moonboard, spray wall), a bar with coffee and super-friendly staff; ~3km north (Neustadt)

    Gets crowded and the air can fill with chalk dust; mats could be refreshed

  4. Mandala Boulderhalle PostplatzClimbing

    The central Postplatz branch of Mandala — smaller but coherent and modern with a great mix of wall angles and styles, ~150 well-set boulders (even the easy ones are fun), superior training facilities (board climbing, weights, hangboards) and gym equipment upstairs, close to a public pool/sauna

    Smaller than the main hall; can get busy

    Skate school with friendly, flexible trainers and an excellent beginners' course that works well for kids from ~8 (also a nice gift), helpful office, central location by the Lingnerallee

    A school — book courses; one reviewer reported a slow refund/rescheduling issue, so pay/book carefully

    Big trampoline park that's fun for all ages with a scary-but-amazing slide, a nice relaxing café for parents to watch from, good for group activities and birthdays; ~7km southeast (Leuben)

    Gets very crowded at weekends; pricey with extra €2 for the (reusable) wristband and grip socks; afternoon-only on weekdays

    A lovingly designed courtyard in Trachau with many trees and play space where kids can see and pet the donkeys, plus a rabbit hutch and a nice playground, a mindful, friendly, calming atmosphere; ~4km northwest

    The café isn't always open; a few parking spaces; closed weekends

  2. Kinder- und Jugendfarm SpielwiesePetting farm

    A wonderful children's and youth farm that feels like stepping out of the city into another world, warmly and kindly run by a competent team of educators, with animals (some roaming free) to be close to and pet, a charmingly rustic property and plenty of activities, donation-based; ~7km east

    A bit dated; closed Mon-Tue and Sun; afternoons on weekdays
