    A lovely indoor playground — one of the best in the Galway region — with more variety of activities than most (climbing, hanging, slides, a little road area with ride-on cars and a sensory area), a good coffee-and-pastries space with tables so parents can relax, and warm welcoming staff, great for a wet day or a birthday

    Gets a bit cold with a slight dampness (an issue across the west); book ahead; closed Mon-Thu

    A large indoor play area with plenty of seating, baby-changing and high chairs, a café and space for birthday parties; ~5km east

    Poorly ventilated and dusty of late (some report burning eyes) and lightly supervised, best for ages 3+ — check current state; verify your booking is recorded and opening times before travelling

    A real success story — a professionally designed and recently upgraded concrete skatepark with great layout and flow, a beginner street section (rails, manual pad, hubbas, ledges, mellow banks) and a bowl and miniramp for the experienced, good for skate and BMX; ~5km east

    A wonderful, tucked-away climbing co-op with walls of varying difficulty developed by an enthusiastic volunteer team, a great, not-too-busy asset for Galway and something different for kids on a Sunday morning, with helpful members offering advice; ~2km east

    Members-only (needs an induction first, then 24-hour key access) — not drop-in; communication can be limited

  3. Galway Community CircusAcrobatics / aerial

    An absolute gem of a community circus with friendly caring staff and amazing tutors, offering classes for kids to adults (and family circus) at a reasonable price — stilts, juggling, tightrope, unicycle — a safe, happy, confidence-building space, with kids taking part in the St Patrick's parade; ~1km west

  4. JumpLanes GalwayTrampoline park

    A trampoline centre kids love for jumping and fun, with party packages, plenty of parking and a second-floor seating area for parents to watch, friendly patient staff; ~2km east

    Shares toilets with the gym; can be cold (keep coats on) and floors not always clean; hourly sessions

  5. Westside Skate ParkSkate / BMX / roller

    A decent skatepark that's better than skating on the road for beginners, in a park with a good playground and a tartan running track for older kids, relatively clean, with parking right beside it; ~2km west

    A bit tricky to find; bumpy/slanted ground and some worn equipment; ramps can be slick

    A lovely farm park with well-run indoor soft play and slides plus outdoor playgrounds, farm animals to see and pet (hamsters, rabbits), tractor rides and a great Santa experience, with helpful caring staff and delicious café food, and you can stay as long as you like after a party; ~12km northwest

  2. Turoe Pet FarmPetting farm

    A brilliant, spotlessly clean pet farm where staff hand you a bag of feed at the door and kids can feed sheep and ducks and even walk into the rabbit enclosure, plus three playgrounds including a huge indoor inflatable city, friendly helpful staff and good café food; ~30km east

    A drive from the city; animals are in cages (still easy to feed); open Sat-Sun only
